Calculation formula for surface load of heating tube

The surface load of an electric heating tube refers to the power per unit area on the heating surface of the heating tube, and the unit of surface load is w/cm2, which is the watt density.

First, calculate the surface area, diameter, and length of the electric heating tube (where length refers to the length of the heating area of the heating tube), because each electric heating tube has a heating area and a cooling area.

According to the load calculation formula of the electric heating tube table:

Surface load of electric heating tube (w/cm2 (watt density))=W (electric heating tube power)/(D × π× L (cm))

It should be noted that heating tubes are measured in millimeters (mm) and need to be converted to centimeters.

For example, a flange heating tube with a diameter of 12mm made of 304 stainless steel, an effective length of 300mm, 6 loops back and forth, and a power of 3kw

Surface load=3000w ÷ [1.2cm × 3.14 × (30cm × 6)]

=3000w÷678.274cm2

≈4.42w/cm2

The surface load of an electric heating tube is an important parameter for determining its surface temperature and lifespan! Therefore, it is important to calculate the surface load of the electric heating tube correctly!
