Quenching medium selection principles and steps are as follows.
1. For steel grades with high carbon content and good hardenability, low-level quenchant (or quenchant concentration) should be selected.
2. Under the premise of ensuring no quenching crack, a deeper quenching hardening layer can be obtained by selecting a slightly higher level quenching agent (or quenching liquid concentration).
3. In the suitable level, the variety with stable performance, long service life, easy management and low price should be selected.
4. Applicable reference grade range for each steel grade. For example, carbon structural steel is 70~110; carbon tool steel, low alloy low carbon steel is 50~80; low carbon content of alloy steel is 30?70; high carbon low alloy steel, medium carbon alloy steel (such as spring steel) is 10~30.
